Squirrels, Garmins, and Comments
I remember when I was little I used to squeal with delight at the sight of squirrels. It must have been their fluffy tails. Nowadays, not so much. This morning I woke up to the scratching at Dave’s window and immediately freaked out- what giant rodent could be making such a giant sound? It woke me UP, people. From a deep sleep. WTF? Most may not know, but my mother and I recently “took care” of a mouse problem in our house (we KILLED them. we killed them ALL!) and I would have been content to have never had to listen to the busied scratching of any kind, but this morning it was magnified. Although for a brief moment, while observing the brown squirrel SCALE THE WINDOW while the black squirrel delightfully licked the window sil (sp?), I thought the latter was cute, I remembered how they had rudely awoken me and that they reminded me so much of their smaller, diseased, evil cohorts who until recently had infested my own dwelling. So my natural response was to bang on the window to get them to leave. The brown squirrel was not startled, nor was it’s footing disturbed by my angry smacking. These are giant mice with fluffy tails. Awful.
I realise that this blog is meant to be about my running, or lack thereof, and the reason my dedicated blogging has been less than dedicated is because it’s been minus fifty outside. We just had a chinook so I broke out by brand-spanking-new (refurbished) Garmin watch and proceeding to go jogging in knee-deep SLUSH. Wonderful. I’ll have my minus fifty back please.
In other news, I don’t know how to adjust the settings on this so that my comments actually show up. Apparently I have to come to the site and actually approve comments before they’ll show up, and honestly who the hell has time for that? Where is this section on the dashboard? help?
